Workshop W4 'Through the barricades: history of boundaries in Geology'
Friday 17th September, 2021 (09:00 - 17:00 CEST) GoToMeeting platform of the Italian Geological Society

Social, cultural, political, but also philosophical borders in some cases follow geographical boundaries, but rarely can be related to geological limits. Thus, history of geological sciences is rich of examples of transnational cooperation between scholars from different countries. In this workshop contributions about researches and projects, challenges and struggle, successes and failures will be hosted, in order to build a mosaic of fragments: episodes in the making of geology. In short, how mankind progressively achieved comprehension of the Earth, from local to global scale, necessarily going through the barricades.
