MEDAGLIA CAPELLINI 2018 to HELMUT WEISSERT
For the article "Palaeoenvironment and palaeoecology before and at the onset of Oceanic Anoxic Event (OAE)1a: Reconstructions from Central Tethyan archives interval", published in 2017 on Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology by S. Amodio & H. Weissert.
This work is a very detailed synthesis of biogeochemical variations in Tethyan carbonate platforms correlated to pelagic sequences. Such a careful comparison allowed the identification of synchronous and diachronic events for the understanding of the dynamics during an exceptional global warming event associated with ocean eutrophication, anoxia and acidification. It could only be authored by a top-scientist, with exceptional knowledge in stratigraphy, sedimentology and chemostratigraphy applied to Italian Geology over a period of forty years.
