Join Us for Session TS3.1 at EGU 2025 – Explore Innovations in Seismotectonics & Active Faults!

Dear Colleagues,

How do active faults shape our world? Join us at the EGU 2025 Session TS3.1, where we'll dive deep into this question and more. Our session, "Studying Active Faults from the Near-Surface to Seismogenic Depth: Innovations and Challenges in Seismotectonics and Active Tectonics," will convene at the EGU General Assembly 2025 in Vienna, Austria, from 27 April to 2 May 2025.

Convened by Fabio Luca Bonali, Rita De Nardis, Vanja Kastelic, Debora Presti, and Victor Alania, this session is a platform for innovative discussions on faulting mechanisms. We welcome contributions using traditional and pioneering methods and perspectives from both local and regional contexts. Together, we'll explore fault geometry, kinematics, deformation styles, and rates to shape a more integrated understanding of seismotectonic processes. With a focus on interdisciplinary approaches, this session bridges geological and geophysical methods to inspire robust, next-generation seismotectonic models.

For an in-depth overview of topics and objectives, check out the detailed session description.

Submit Your Abstracts by January 15, 2025! Don't miss the chance to share your insights. (Abstract Submission Guidelines)

We especially encourage PhD students and Early Career Scientists (ECS) to participate in this session.  This is a unique opportunity to present your research, engage in an intergenerational exchange of ideas, and connect with peers and accomplished experts alike. Travel support grants are available for eligible ECS participants, with applications due by December 2, 2024, at 13:00 CET. (Grant Information)

We look forward to your contributions and to an inspiring session at EGU 2025!

Best regards,

Fabio, Rita, Vanja, Debora, and Victor
