Carissimi Soci SGI,
Carissimi Soci Società Associate,
su indicazione della Prof.ssa Glenda Taddia (Politecnico di Torino), vi inoltriamo il seguente messaggio relativo alla call for abstract del Convegno IAH 2024 - World Groundwater Congress: Interacting Groundwater (Davos, Switzerland, 8-13/09/2024).
Cordiali saluti,
La Segreteria
Dear Colleagues,
We are encouraging you to submit your contribution to the IAH24 - World Groundwater Congress: Interacting Groundwater (Davos, Switzerland, 8-13/09/2024).
In particular, we would be glad if you would submit it in our session entitled: The Interplay between Geothermal Energy and Groundwater Use in the Energy Transition (topic: SUSTAINABLE GROUNDWATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT) https://www.iah2024davos.org/parallel/
In the evolving landscape of the energy transition, the exploration and harnessing of subsurface resources emerge as an important avenue for developing energy solutions. This session delves into the intricate interplay between geothermal energy and hydrogeology, spotlighting the potential synergies and challenges that arise in the pursuit of sustainable energy alternatives. This includes the thermal exploration of shallow or deep aquifers, but also the possibility of storing and recovering heat in aquifers.
The focus of the session will be on the relationship between geothermal energy and groundwater use, examining how the extraction of geothermal energy intersects with other subsurface activities. We invite contributions that investigate this critical overlap, with, among others, a focus on heat or mass exchange, thermal/hydraulic/chemical transport in these environments, or exploration, characterization, and utilization of aquifers. This session serves as a platform for contributions from fieldwork, through conceptualization, laboratory experiments, technical developments, and numerical simulation of real case studies and benchmark tests and the combination of those. As we aim for innovation in geothermal energy and groundwater use, we welcome international studies to allow for knowledge exchange and a worldwide learning environment.
Session Conveners:
