Prof. Isabel Cacho Lascor
GRC Geociències Marines, Departament de Dinàmica de la Terra i de l'Oceà, Universitat de Barcelona

Graduate in Geology and PhD in Geology at the University of Barcelona. Associate Professor in the University of Barcelona since 2008 and ICREA Academia award since 2013, previously she was "Ramón y Cajal" researcher (2004-2008) and posdoctoral researcher in the University of Cambridge (2000-2003).

Specialist in the reconstruction of past climatic variability based on the analysis of marine sediments and cave speleothems. She has experience in the application of different geochemical techniques like the analysis of trace elements and stable isotopes in carbonates, analyses of molecular biomarkers, as well as other sedimentological techniques. Several of her research has been centred in rapid climatic variability of the Mediterranean region, but she has also performed an intense work in the Equatorial Pacific and some regions of the Atlantic Ocean. She has more than 60 ISI publications, including Nature, Science, Nature Geosciences and Geology among others, and more than 200 contributions to international conferences. Member of national and international committees of research projects such as CLIVAR (Climate Variability), SOLAS (Surface Ocean Lower Atmosphere Study) and INQUA (International Union for Quaternary Research).
