The second outreach workshop "Frontiers of Uncertainty Quantification" (FrontUQ) organized by the GAMM Activity Group on Uncertainty Quantification will be held on September 5-7, 2018 in Pavia, Italy with focus on Uncertainty Quantification in Subsurface Environments (https://frontuq18.org).
Subsurface environments host natural resources which are critical to the needs of our society and to its development. The diversity of problems encountered in subsurface modeling calls for multi-disciplinary research efforts, with contributions from a wide range of fields including, e.g., mathematics, hydrology, geology, physics and biogeochemistry. We welcome contributions from researchers with different backgrounds active in the area, presenting both advances in dedicated uncertainty quantification techniques and real-world test cases.
Contributions can be submitted as poster or oral presentation.
A limited amount of funding is provided by GAMM for researchers who do not yet hold permanent positions. Interested participants are encouraged to contact the organizers at frontuq18@imati.cnr.it
Important dates:

Early registration: May 11th to June 10th
Late registration: June 11th to July 15th
Confirmed invited speakers:
Alberto Guadagnini, Politecnico di Milano, Italy
Colin Fox, University of Otago, New Zealand

The FrontUQ18 workshop will team up with the Interpore Italian Chapter meeting!
The International Society for Porous Media (InterPore) aims to advance and disseminate knowledge for the understanding, description, and modeling of natural and industrial porous media systems. The Interpore Italian Chapter will be held on in Pavia Friday afternoon, September 7th. Participants of Interpore Italian Chapter which are interested in attending the FrontUQ meeting on Friday morning can enjoy a special registration fee for the Friday morning session.
